It’s not that we like driving on the wrong side of the road, but we do keep on eye on what they do down under. They have a lot of fun with cars in Australia, too. As a matter of fact, it looks like drivers on the other side of the planet may be getting something we would love to have our hands on here in the United States, a supercharged four-foor sedan with sports car looks and handling.
Take a good close look at the vaguely disguised vehicles in the video below. According to GM Authority, you can make out larger exhaust pipes than the lightly camouflaged HSV Holden VF Commodore should normally feature, as well as different lower fascias and tail lights. In addition, mounting points suggest that a rear spoiler may be on its way, too.
This leads many in Australia to believe that a high-performance version of the new HVS, which was unveiled in that country a fews months back, could soon be on the road there. And suspicions are that the next-gen’ HSV Commodore will be powered by the supercharged 6.2L LSA V-8, an engine readily available to GM and well proven in the American market under the hoods of the Cadillac CTS-V and Chevy Camaro ZL1.
What we here at Chevy Hardcore have been thinking (or hoping) is that this might be the new Chevy SS and it might look something like the red SSV pictured. Would you like to drive a road-hugging four-door Chevy with a supercharged V-8?
