We admit it, we love browsing through the classifieds whether it be on Craigslist or on eBay. Mostly because you never know what you will find, and we always hold out hope that we will come across that hidden gem. Well, it might not be that hidden gem, but someone in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area has listed a real deal DZ 302 pulled from a ’69 Camaro Z/28.
But instead of putting a price for the rebuilt engine, they have posed a very difficult question, whether they intended to or not: We have a real DZ 302 that we had planned on putting in a Camaro z/28 clone. But we’ve run out of money. So we are selling everything. I know what it’s worth. But I’ve got to sell it. Make me an offer.
That’s such a great question, what is a “real-deal” DZ 302 worth? Pulled from one of the most iconic Camaros of all time, this particular example looks to be completely rebuilt and ready to be dropped in a project. This DZ wears a 3970010 casting number meaning its a very rare block, but still the question remains, whats it worth?
Other details:
- E19 date code – fist week of May ’69 build date
- V0507DZ stamp plate.
A quick search on eBay helped us find plenty of 302’s for sale, but this one intrigued us and might help us solve the answer to our question. This DZ302 is currently listed for sale at just under $11,000. So is this particular engine worth that much?
What’s your opinion? Being a rare engine doesn’t always ensure value. So we’ll leave it in you the reader’s hands – if this is a real deal DZ 302, than what is it worth? What would/should it take to purchase it off the seller? Leave us a comment below with your opinion.
