What is the pinnacle element of a great hot rod? Is it the powerhouse? The make and model of the vehicle? According to Matt Whitlock, owner of Wrecked Metals in Boise, Idaho, it’s neither. Actually, it’s the overall look of the vehicle when it’s finished that is the key element of a fantastic build, and that’s exactly what Whitlock accomplishes on a daily basis at his traditional hot rod and chopper shop. Check out some of Whitlock’s builds and his car club buddies’ rigs in the video above, produced by Josh Clason.

It’s been a long time coming since Rod Authority has seen a really killer hot rod video that doesn’t focus on the nitty gritty details of a hot rod build, but rather lets the feature cars speak for themselves aesthetically. Whether you’re having a great day or need a quick break from your week, this video will definitely put you in the right kind of mood.
Owned by Whitlock, Wrecked Metals of Boise, Idaho functions as a traditional hot rod shop-completing amazing builds that only the greatest imaginations could conceive.
Not only is this a career for Whitlock, it’s also a passion and extends into his free time thanks to the Farm Boys car club, a play on the location rather than the members’ upbringings.
No matter what your taste in hot rods is, or even vintage motorcycles, Whitlock’s creations and car club prove to have something for everyone, whether it’s a vintage Ford truck or a Mercury lead sled. And the videography/photography showing off each car in the video and Wrecked Metals’ website is bar none some of the best we’ve ever seen.
What can we say? Enjoy the tranquil and inspiring show!
