If you’re familiar with the history behind Chevrolet and the Apache Fleetside truck, you’ll know these classic trucks are a pretty rare commodity. Classic GM enthusiasts will also know that they were only produced for a total of 4 years (’55-’59) under the Chevrolet Task Force series truck, otherwise known as the Blue Chip Series.
While it’s fairly uncommon to see these trucks nowadays (apart from the occasional car shows), you can still have the pleasure of viewing them online, like this LS1 swapped ’59 Apache for example.

When Fortified Customs (FC) got their hands on this straight-bodied ’59 Apache Fleetside to build for a customer, they knew they had to make the truck live up to the Apache legacy. The truck received a complete frame restoration, and uses a modified PorterBuilt front drop member to accommodate for the new AccuAir air suspension components and LS3 engine.
Speaking of the frame, the truck now houses a Ford 9-inch locking differential with 3.80 gears.
The truck has become host to many more modern performance oriented parts as well, such as a new 6.2 liter LS3 power plant. The new LS3 is controlled by a MSD Atomic LS EFI system and has custom fabricated long-tube headers, while the fully built 4L80E transmission uses a MSD TCM.

There are many more modifications to this truck, including a complete interior restoration with modern electronics from Dakota Digital and Pioneer, and a Vintage Air A/C system.
If you’d like to learn more about this ’59 Apache, take a look at Fortified Custom’s Facebook page or check out their website. From the looks of this truck and their other projects, we’d have to say they do some fantastic work on their customers cars.

20-inch steel wheels from Detroit Steel Wheels really make this ’59 Apache one badass restomod.
