Drag Racing is an art. Some setups go fast and others fail to live up to their designed purpose. Everybody participating is attempting to figure out the formula needed to cross the bridge from the latter to the former.
Today’s video shows a Corvette that took one hell of a first step toward conquering the world of C7s. At a first glance, it may not seem like a big deal as the car clocked in at 11.02-seconds of elapsed time in the quarter-mile. By no stretch of the imagination is this time earth shattering. When we look a bit closer however, we see that it was able to reach an astonishing 145.09mph. In drag race speak, this means that the car should be able to get down the 1320 in well under 10-seconds with the proper launch. We’ve already seen a C7 in the 9s whose trap speed was significantly less.
We aren’t told entirely too much about the build, but are able to piece together a bit of information via contextual clues. First and foremost, we must credit Kevin Kesterson and Mark Heidaker from MK Motorsports for putting together such a mean machine. While we aren’t 100 percent sure of the specifics, the evidence shows that the car is equipped with a minimum of a cam, centrifugal supercharger, and nitrous. Whatever the remaining details hold, we can’t deny MK’s mechanical abilities. Hats off to the team for achieving such a tremendous speed. With a bit more seat time and perhaps a better set of tires, we would assume the Vette will be hauling in the ETs to match. They may even be looking to go after that number one spot on the ET leaderboard soon. Stay tuned.
