The guys over at RK Motors in Charlotte, North Carolina, continue to bring out the best in custom classics. Check out this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro from our wish list, that is noting short of a serious show stopper. With its classic looks and plentiful amount of power, this could be the all around perfect car.

What began as a ground-up restoration, this first-generation Camaro had its panels massaged and sanded to make it as straight as an arrow. A custom valance, shaved drip rails, Detroit Speed mini tubs, and a filled cowl keep the exterior looks clean and simple.

Hit with BASF Diamond Carizzma Candy Ruby Red base paint and clear coat, this Camaro holds a luster that can’t be compared. Aiming for form over function, the car kept add-ons to a minimum.

Up front, there’s Detroit Speed headlights, a shaved Rally Sport grille, and a factory chin spoiler down low, that gives the Camaro a classic appearance. Side mirrors from a fifth-generation Corvette replace the original mirrors, adding a modern touch to complement the clean visual package.

A set of  Rushforth Rated-X wheels, measuring 18×9 front and 19×12 on the rear, add an aggressive look to the Camaro, and are wrapped with Nitto NT05 rubber. Peeping under the hood, there’s a 383 cubic-inch small-block V8 with a 770 cfm Holley carburetor that kick down an estimated 400 horsepower.

The engine also utilizes an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, 195 cc Air Flow Research heads, and Comp Cams Ultra Gold rollers. The engine bay is so clean and tidy, that it gives the car an even more flawless appearance.

Hooker Super Competition headers, Concept One pulleys, and a Borla exhaust system help the Camaro reach its full power potential. The powerful small block is connected to a 200R4 four-speed automatic transmission that bangs through gears with ease.

Going against the grain, this 383 cubic-inch small-block sends power to a 9-inch rearend, filled with a Truetrac differential and 3.55 gears. Stopping power is provided by Wilwood four and six-piston calipers with 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors, and a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system makes handling twisty roads a breeze.

Heading inside the Chevy, you’ll find a custom black and gray leather interior with red-stitching. The dash features Auto Meter Carbon Fiber Ultra-Lite telemetry, coupled with Vintage Air climate control to keep you cool in this custom classic. A Billet Specialties steering wheel sits atop a tilt-adjustable Ididit steering column.

Meticulously built with great attention to detail, this Camaro is impressive both visually and when the pedal hits the floor.

A deadly combination of show and go, this Camaro has the potential to strain your eyes with its good looks, and knock your socks off with its substantial amount of power under the hood. At 48 years old, this Camaro remains relevant, and proves why its a timeless classic.
