While Elvis Presley has been dead for over 37-years, the singer/actor still has some secrets that are just now being made public. A recent video made public on Fox News’ Car Report discussed the recent reveal of Elvis Presley’s rusty old 1948 Chevrolet Panel Van that they say Elvis used to use to sneak out of Graceland when he wanted to avoid his fans and the press.
Ray Evernham was onhand to uncover Elvis' secret Chevy.
Apparently the Chevy panel van had been hidden from Elvis’ adoring public and away from public view since Elvis died in 1977. It has been kept exactly as he left it, along with Presley’s famous 1955 pink Cadillac. According to the Graceland staff, the Chevy panel van has been in the Graceland collection the longest of any of the vehicles owned by the King.
Evernham happened to be at Graceland to shoot a segment for the Velocity channel’s Americarna show. The crew was there to cover a segment on the last car that Elvis drove before he died, a 1973 Stutz Blackhawk III. One of the Graceland staff told Evernham the car that he really wanted to see was in another warehouse out back. Hidden under a sheet, Elvis’ Chevy van was hiding away from Elvis fans and the press.
