We’re going to go out on a limb and say that the folks at GM are pretty proud of the Camaro 1LE and all of the bang for the buck it offers.
Yeah, we’ve seen video reviews and basic overviews showcasing how the car is improved over the factory Camaro SS. Until now, we actually haven’t seen much footage of their owners flogging them around any tracks, but this video by Camaro5 forum member cornerspeed92Â shows us exactly what these 1LE Camaros are capable of.
In the midst of five actual race-prepped cars on the grid and a bunch of other high-end cars, such as BMW M3s, Mercedes Benz C63 AMGs, Corvette Z06s, Porsche 911 GT3s, and much more, cornerspeed92 and his 1LE Camaro were seventh fastest overall at the track with a best time of 1:54.628. That statistic was based on all the cars running that day, but if the field had been leveled out competitively, cornerspeed92 would’ve been second fastest to a 2006 Corvette Z06 – not too shabby at all considering the car is still stock! For those of you wondering, the time difference between cornerspeed92’s lap and the Z06’s lap was .017.
With the Camaro Z/28 already being delivered to customers, we can’t wait to see what times those will put down compared to a 1LE on some popular tracks. Chevrolet is in fact limiting the sale of certain Z/28 components, but there are nine packages that Chevrolet Performance is releasing this summer for Camaro owners to improve the performance of their vehicles. This is most likely where we’ll see the 1LE shine even more – with Z/28 components.
