Hot off the manufacturing bench this year in the F.A.S.T. booth at the 2015 SEMA Show is an expanded range of ignition products, including new boxes and ignition controllers.
“We are trying to broaden our ignition lineup,” says F.A.S.T.’s Trent Goodwin. “We wanted to think outside the box with the E7. We used a urethane case design to help keep the weight down for serious race applications where customers are looking to save grams of weight from every component. On top is a billet heat shield to help protect the electronics.”
The E7 offers a pair of built-in RPM limiters, a tachometer output, and 20 degrees of start retard to help bring high-compression engines to life more easily.
The full-digital design offers higher speed and accuracy of spark timing and rev limits over previous analog systems; it’s designed to excel in drag, circle track, and boat racing applications. The urethane case not only keeps the unit from tipping the scales too heavily, it also works to protect the unit from shock and moisture in all environments, even on the water.
“Now we have a system to help us cater to the higher-end market. This is just step one of many things that are coming, as we have a full line of spark plug wires, different styles of coils, and lots of good stuff coming down the pipeline,” says Goodwin.
Also in the booth this year is a matching ignition kit, consisting of the E6 capacitive-discharge ignition box and an E92 external coil that are designed to provide the good stuff to the street performance market. The coil’s performance is based on the output specs of the CD box and can be used with each of F.A.S.T.’s EFI systems, or with a carburetor-equipped vehicle.
