We’ve all seen the Bumblebee Transformer you can buy in the store. It retails for around $20 in the local Wal-Mart, and it’s relatively simple enough to transform from robot to Camaro. Your kid probably has one. Maybe you do too. But what if you wanted something more? Something more exclusive, something more interesting, and perhaps, something slightly more expensive?

Well now you can have it. A Japanese toymaker called Takara Tomy has a history of creating self-transforming robots. When they were initially released, they were asking as much as $24,000 for one, and they sold all ten of them. 

According to a recent story from Gizmodo, Takara Tomy is now looking forward to mass producing their motorized, self-transforming toy Camaro. From what we understand, there are a total of eight motors inside every Tomy remote control car that make it change shape, walk, and even dance (to a point).

Obviously, $24,000 is a bit steep to some of us for a remote control car, but plans to bring a much more affordable version to market is happening as we speak. We tried to find a video of the transforming Camaro, but came up empty. In the meantime, just out the video about to get a general idea of how these cars operate.

We’re not quite sure how to take a toy that can transform on its own, other than it could be a sign that Skynet is even closer to becoming a reality.
