Anyone who has ever paid attention at a car show can tell you the glaring truth about bad body gaps. Not only are they distracting, they can also completely ruin the impression of a vehicle. The sad part? They’re actually not that complicated to fix. Check out how the American Modern crew, with guest Adam Boca, are working to prevent bad body panel gap issues right from the start in this week’s episode of The Build above.
Last week, the crew of The Build started on their journey of creating correct body panel gaps. This week, it’s even more work as they take on the cowl panel and hood.
As you already know, the front end of the Malibu was pretty messed up after it had a run-in with a brick wall, so everything east of the doors is new sheet metal. This has presented a few issues for the American Modern crew as factory sheet metal, which didn’t fit all that well to begin with, doesn’t fit as perfectly with aftermarket sheet metal as the crew would like. But with some “massaging” planned to straighten out rolled corners and body work in the works, the Malibu project is coming together quite smoothly- body lines and all.
Be sure to check back next week as the American Modern crew continues to piece their classic Malibu back together!
