Not only does it have to be tough on a stock chassis and suspension to handle the dirt, it also has to be fast and fully capable of reining in some wins. Don’t know where to start? Well lucky for you, Jeri Ellsworth does and she’s showing all you Pure Stock enthusiasts just what building the ultimate car entails using an ’81 Camaro and her own YouTube series. As a self-taught engineer, Ellsworth is most famous for her amazing computer skills, having come up with things such as unique computer chips, the “computer in a chip” used for the Commodore-emulating joystick, a video game joystick capable of being a computer within itself, and most recently, a Kickstarter-funded augmented reality development system called castAR, which she developed with ex-Valve engineer Rick Johnson. Ellsworth is also a notable computer hacker.

While most of her recent accomplishments have to do with computer technology, Ellsworth grew up with a hand in the automotive industry, having driven dirt track racers with her father growing up. Following her success as a driver, Ellsworth even started designing and selling her own custom dirt track racers.

In this old-but-good YouTube series, Ellsworth taps into her automotive and design talents to help a friend build a Pure Stock Camaro for competition. Everything from installing a roll cage to tying subframes together is covered, making this female-driven automotive series that much better.
