YouTube is full of people doing stupid things. It’s like the modern day version of America’s Funniest Home Videos. Sometimes we wonder if people are doing these acts of stupidity for attention. But honestly, who cares? Either way, it’s entertaining and hilarious.
We just found this video of a Nissan 240SX on everybody’s favorite goofball site, whose owner is in the middle of an LS swap. This doesn’t sound like it could make for much comedy on the face of it, but once we find out he’s planning on taking us for a test drive when he has a hood but no hood latch, we had to stick around.
The owner, who looks to be in his early 20’s, evidently felt confident with a frayed piece of rope and a bungee cord to keep his hood in place. Which is great if the car is only parked in the driveway to keep the engine out of the elements. Terrible if you plan on driving it anywhere.
Parked in the middle of what looks to be an import junkyard, the 240SX is covered in patches of primer and is missing the front bumper and grille assembly. From what the owner says, it’s due to a mishap that happened during a drifting competition. Whatever, all we know is that we were in for a treat  when we saw the tile, “Hood Flys up on LS1 swapped 240sx.”
Pop goes the weasel...
As he takes off down the road, it becomes clearly evident that the Nissan is in dire need of a tune and some exhaust work. And some interior work. And some wiring. We’re not ones to criticize someone else’s car, and we know all too well what it’s like to be in the middle of a project, but this thing is rough.
It all comes to a crashing end, literally, when the bungee cord inevitably snaps, sending the hood smashing into the already cracked windshield. Sadly, this car has an even longer way to go to make it road worthy, much less ready for competition.
