Thanks to 1320 Video, we have another entertaining Corvette video. To begin, the owner of the C6 gives a little insight as to where this car is gathering its increased power. From what we can tell the owner explained, “It has a Procharger F1A running right around 20 lbs of boost, on pump gas and [inaudible].” It sounds as though he says, “pump gas and methonite” but we are unfamiliar with the additive, so feel free to comment below if you know about it.
The car definitely has a mean look with the black hood, wheels, top, and black rear section, and the the footage of it spitting fire certainly seals the deal. Apparently, the narrator recognized the car from Tampa, Florida where he initially saw the car hissing and spitting fire while running next to the C6 down the freeway.
The narrator also mentions a “two-step” which is what ultimately causes the pyrotechnics display. The simplest explanation of a “two-step” is an additional rev-limiter which can be set at your desired RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) anywhere within the standard operating range. It simply holds the engine at a consistent speed giving the operator the ability to build boost and / or provide a consistent launch RPM point for drag racing, as well as other user specific functions.
The driver in the video engages his “two-step” while driving down the freeway and because the fuel system is delivering more fuel the engine can burn, it is pushed into the exhaust system where it is later detonated. The law may not appreciate it, but it certainly makes for quite the display!
