We’re car guys here and we love a good burnout as much as anyone else. We like having fun as much as anyone else. We love to go out to events and see and hear the high horsepower cars, especially big American muscle.
MustangMatt brings us this video of a roots blown big block Camaro leaving an event and quickly getting into trouble. The driver and presumably owner of this 1969 Camaro decided to show off his horsepower as he was leaving a Cars & Coffee event in Reno, Nevada, earlier this month.
Unfortunately he didn’t quite have the Camaro straightened all the way out before sticking his foot into the blower. The car hooked left into the center divider and into the oncoming traffic lane, collecting a chain-link fence along the way. High horsepower and big meats are great for moving a lightened car when they hook up. Sometimes all that horsepower and traction can push in directions you weren’t prepared for.
Top: This is where it all started to go badly.
Bottom: The front of the Camaro was destroyed.
The Camaro was badly damaged as you can see, thankfully no one was injured with the possible exception of the driver’s pride and ego.
This could have easily been a tragedy considering the car ended up facing the wrong way in the oncoming traffic lane. Fortunately tragedy was averted this time.
Keep your burnouts safe and off the street. Some events we’ve seen have designated burnout areas where the environment and crowd are controlled.
The owner has promised to have the vehicle repaired in time to bring it out to Hot August Nights. His Camaro may be repaired by then, but how about his pride? Please take care when arriving or leaving these events, for your own benefit as well as others.
