Sometimes when we see something that approaches perfect, we have to wonder about the price. So we are leaving this one up to you. Check out this apparently near-mint condition 1966 Chevy II SS, and let us know below in the Comments section what you think and if it’s priced right. Would you pay nearly $80,000 for it?
For sale on Craigslist, this ’66 Chevy IIÂ SS is claimed to be an all-original, 652 mile, matching-numbers 327ci/350hp L79/4-speed. The car looks pretty good. The seller claims it’s a single-owner car, which is always a good thing when looking for used vehicle. However, the seller says he has but documentation (unspecified), and that should give any buyer a good paper trail as to its provenance.
With almost no corrosion evident from the photos, except for a bit of patina on the original Marina Blue paint, we would hazard a guess that this car has spent most of its life under the protection of a garage. It looks like it has all the original trim, and the sheet metal seems to be straight and clean of any dents or other disfigurement. Those classic whitewalls look practically new, too.
The undercarriage is clean, but not sterile, so it very well could be well-cared-for original. The 12-bolt, 3.73-geared, Posi-track rearend, looks darn near perfect. The seller also claims that the exhaust system is all original, from the headers right down to the resonators. That factory L79 also looks like it’s never been messed with, and the Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission is clean as a whistle.
You can find it on Craigslist for yourself to get all the information, but as we stated before, the Arizona seller wants $78,000 for it. Are you up for it? Let us know what you think it’s worth. Would you rock this ride?
