Filling the gap between the plug-n-play EZ-EFI systems and the hardcore racing XFI controller is the new XFI Sportsman engine control system from FAST.
“It’ll run boosted engines up to five bar (about 60 psi) and also nitrous oxide,” says spokesperson Trent Goodwin. “It’s designed to work with high-impedance injectors but with easy-to-use programming.”
The FAST XFI Sportsman fills the gap between the EZ-EFI and the XFI controllers.
The XFI Sportsman will work in a variety of applications, including musclecars, bracket racers and late models. It’s compatible with either multi-port fuel-injector arrangements or the easy-to-install EZ-EFI self-contained throttle bodies.
“You can tailor the XFI Sportsman controller to a variety of systems,” adds Goodwin, “which makes its ideal for junkyard swaps.”
The XFI Sportsman controller utilizes FAST C-COM software and comes with USB connectivity, fuel-pressure sensor kit, multi-port wiring harness and a Bosch wideband O2 sensor. It works with both a return and returnless fuel system. It’s also configurable for electronic timing control with FAST distributors and crank triggers. Finally, the FAST XFI Sportsman can control the fuel delivery through speed density or Alpha-N strategies.
“It also has self-tuning capability, even with boost,” adds Goodwin.
Once the software is opened up on the computer, the tuner will find full tables to monitor fueling, acceleration fuel, timing and air/fuel targets. A user-configurable auxiliary input channel and full function data logging are also included. The housing is a waterproof enclosure for the ECU and features diagnostic LEDs.
