It seems like the gents at Hennessey Performance can’t keep their hands off of the Camaro, and we can’t blame them. John Hennessey and his team have developed several performance solutions for both the 5th generation and the 6th generation Camaro, with packages ranging anywhere from 500 to 1,200 horsepower available for both generations.
The company is currently developing its latest package for the 5th generation ZL1 Camaro and recently released the teaser clip shown above. Albeit the clip is less than a full two minutes, that’s all you really need to understand just how completely wild this latest high performance package is.
While we don’t have a lot of details on the HPE1200 package as of yet, we are made well aware that the kit is for a specific Hennessey customer, and will utilize twin turbochargers. The HPE1200 package lays down a massive 1,145.21 horsepower and 1,109.90 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels on the dyno. Those figures were achieved on 20 pounds of boost and with the use of race fuel, although Hennessey says the kit is good for 940 horsepower at the rear wheels on 93 grade octane, which is still extremely impressive. These horsepower figures almost match the Hennessey Venom GT while using a little less displacement. Not every Camaro owner can say that about their car.
There’s no doubt in our minds that this HPE1200 performance package equipped ZL1 Camaro will probably be seen at a future Cars & Coffee event; but the question is, will there be enough popularity in the package for Hennessey to produce it?
