Like the sound of a screaming Eagle diving for it’s prey, this insane black 1957 Chevy Pro Mod let’s out one of the most intimidating whines to ever hit our ear drums.
The car is owned and driven by Jason Lansdown, who was filmed while racing at Ozark Raceway Park in Southwest Missouri by Urban Hillbilly Videos. Unlike most Pro Mod cars, this whine was not produced by an alcohol-ingesting big block. Rather, a fuel injected and supercharged 383ci small block stroker is the cause of the hellacious noise.
This little power pack let’s out an ear-piercing drone that can strike fear into the toughest of drag racers. The wail can be heard while the car idles, and that wail rivals that of a banshee in the bog. When Lansdown was asked what causes his blower to make this noise, he simply smiles and turns away, forever keeping it a secret. Perhaps the wail is part of some psychological warfare to worry opponents during launch?
Whatever it is, it’s working the way it should, as not only is this 1957 Chevy loud, but it’s a beast in the 1/8th mile. It was racing in an outlaw event (better known as Pro Mod) where it turned an e.t. of 4.15 seconds at 169 mph.
Not only does the Chevy sound terrifying, but it’s got classic styling, combined with the Pro Mod body, which makes it look intimidating.
