Germany’s Reiter Engineering cut their teeth putting together factory-backed Lamborghinis for FIA GT Championship competition, and still run GT3 Gallardos – so why did a German race team with 15 years’ history campaigning Italian supercars build a full-race Camaro?

Per their SaReNi Camaro web page, “The Camaro is the most cost-effective GT3 racing car on the market right now. Motorsport enthusiasts receive a newly designed GT racecar for a total price of €195,000.” ($214k US, approximately.) While it shares its bones with roadgoing Camaros, Reiter extensively modifies the body, suspension, and drivetrain, ending up with a 650-plus horsepower car that weighs just 1,290 kilos, or 2,843 pounds.

In the video by YouTuber Marchettino, we see one of Reiter’s Camaros at the track at Monza in Italy – first, there’s a bit of a walk-around as the car is prepared for the track, but the real magic begins when the big LS fires up and the car starts making laps. Compared to the other engine sounds in the video, it’s unmistakable.
