Swapping engines has always been a major part of building cars, but in a recent episode of Ultimate Wheels, which airs on UK’s History Channel, we came across a not-so-standard engine swap that has us scratching our heads. That’s because the Ultimate Wheels crew opted to build a 1989 Ferrari 412 that’s engine had been swapped with none other than a classic Chevy V8.

Now don’t get us wrong- we like the fact that they made this love-it-or-hate-it Ferrari more Bowtie friendly, but we still haven’t quite figured out why yet. Check it out in the latest episode of Ultimate Wheels above and make your own assumptions, compliments of Car Scoops.
While we’re definitely into our Chevys around here, we have to hand it to just about anyone who modifies a car and enjoys it in the long run.
After all, not everyone can drive a first-generation Camaro or a 1970 Chevelle SS. But when you start mixing Ferraris with Chevys, that’s a level of modification we’re not too sure of.
The guys of Ultimate Wheels, basically a Counting Cars type show from the UK, are known for their crazy antics. Creating one-of-a-kind vehicles is their forte and they are quite good at it. But this latest project may rub most of the automotive world the wrong way. After all, it is a rare Ferrari 412 equipped with a Chevy V8 rather than its original V12.Â
Fortunately, the Ferrari project transplanted with a Chevy engine wasn’t all the doing of the Ultimate Wheels crew. In fact, the car was actually knowingly bought with the V8 already in place. But that doesn’t mean this build is already unique enough for the creative minds of Will and Elo. They actually take it one step further, the end result being possibly the world’s first Ferrari pickup truck.
A pish-posh of everything you could ever do wrong to a Ferrari, this Chevy-equipped 412 pickup is certainly unique. While we definitely have our own opinions of it, we’ll let you decide if the build is unique in a good way, or a bad way. After all, isn’t beauty in the eye of the beholder?Â
