Here at Chevy Hardcore, we embrace every facet of the Chevrolet nation, whether it be Chevy muscle cars winning shows, killer autocross cars tearing up the pavement, impressive hot rod builds with Chevy powerplants or down-right nasty Chevy drag cars. So, in the spirit of our full coverage of the Street Car Supernationals over on our sister publication Dragzine, we wanted to share this video of an amazing ’78 Malibu tearing it up at Las Vegas Motor Speedway over the weekend. Check it out above.

The car is owned by Megan Ramsey, whose husband Krusty Ramsey of Paint by Krusty pilots the impressive Outlaw 8.5 car down the strip at competitions. Based out of La Salle, Colorado- a nearby neighbor of your author- the PBK Racing team has been the one to beat for the last couple years, not only on their home track Bandimere Speedway, but all across the country.
Having finished as the second runner-up last year at the Street Car Supernationals, it was only appropriate that the Ramseys take the Malibu back to Las Vegas this year to once again represent Colorado.
And while the Ramseys made it through to Round 4 of the Outlaw 8.5 class, the Malibu broke and was not able to continue on to the final round. But that didn’t stop the Malibu from hitting a new personal best while out at the strip.

As you can see in the video above, the Malibu was able to pull a 4.9-second pass over the weekend. In official competition, the car ran a best time of 5.140 at 125.65mph in its first round, followed by a buy round and a 5.2-second pass before breaking in the fourth round.
It’s always amazing to see classic Chevys powered by small blocks (and nitrous in this case) rocket to the end of the drag strip in such quick times.
Congratulations goes out to the Ramseys for getting as far as they did in the Street Car Supernationals this year and we can’t wait to see what next year brings for the team!
