When you hear the word test drive what images pop into your head? An image of a family man testing driving a new sedan? Maybe images of the video game series of the same name? Or perhaps an image of driving your favorite musclecar like you have just stolen it. Testing driving musclecars is exactly what the Youtube channel RamblinAround gets to do in their new show Test Drive.
On this episode of test drive the RamblinAround crew gets the pleasure of driving a 57 Chevy hot rod. The 57 is a cherry red 210 that has been rodded by Fast Lane Classic Cars. You may have noticed the Bel-Air trim on the exterior. While the car is originally a 210, Fast Lane modified it to be a Bel Air clone.
Underneath it’s hood sits a rumbling 450 horsepower 383 stroker engine. The 383 is equipped with a Holley carb which sits on top of an Edelbrock manifold and inside of the block is an Isky performance cam. The engine is fired to life by an MSD ignition system.
The 57's beast of a 383 Stroker.
The 383 exhales through a 3inch Flowmaster exhaust system. The 383 is tied to a modified 700R4 Phoenix transmission with a 2400/2600 Stall Converter. A 700R4 was chosen so the car would have a low first gear for burnouts and still be able cruise the highway.
The '57s all American interior.
Outback is a 12 bolt rear end with 3.73 gears and posi trac. The 57 has also been given power steering, 4 wheel disc brakes and a TCI Pro-Street 4-link suspension with Koni coil overs. The 57 rolls on American Racing Torque Thrust D Wheels. Overall this is a very tasteful 57 Chevy hot rod, nice job Fast Lane!
