We’ve all seen unfortunate circumstances where a classic American car is damaged beyond repair, and knowing our readers, we’d guess that at least a few of you have shed figurative tears over it. But while most people would unwillingly send the vehicle to its final resting spot, not everyone is so easy to give up on a smashed up classic when it’s been through one heck of an ordeal. The 1965 Chevelle Malibu in the video above is such a case. Taken on as “The Build” by American Modern, this American classic has been through a lot, but it’s not even a fraction of what it will endure to get back into tip-top shape.

American Modern, an insurance group that offers insurance coverage for property, boats, motorcycles, and collector cars, as well as things like personal watercrafts and snowmobiles, has taken on the project of restoring a 1965 Chevelle Malibu. But this isn’t just any Malibu- it’s actually one that went through a brick wall.
While some people would understandably let this vehicle go, American Modern Claims Specialist Rick Drewry has taken on the challenge of totally revamping the car through a series called “The Build.”
Through this series you will get to see all the work from the ground up that’s put into this car by Drewry and his crew. And just so you don’t have to do any work to get to each new episode, we’ll be featuring one a week on something we’d like to call Malibu Monday.
This 1965 Chevelle is certainly going to take a lot of work, but with resto-mod plans already in place, a big block engine under the hood, and some serious dedication from the crew at American Modern, we’re excited to see how the crumpled up classic comes out in the end. Check back this coming Monday for the second episode of The Build.
