Even with most of the country under attack of the cold, snowy, and general misery of Old Man Winter, there are those of us who take advantage of a warmer climate. Such is the case of the owner of this ’85 Monte Carlo SS.
Despite it being rather drizzly in his part of Central California on the particular day this video was shot, he used the precipitation to his benefit by throwing his throwback G-body into the bends sideways.Â
In case you’re wondering, no, it’s not still powered by the original 180 HP 305 small-block, but rather, a 5.7L LS1 he sourced from a wrecked ’98 Camaro SS. Not only does he rely on the departed Camaro’s engine for power, but he selects gears from the same T-56 that was attched to the alloy mill in the first place, plus all of the electronics, the dashboard, wipers, lights, and other miscellaneous parts.
To top things off, he threw in a handbrake to help with drifting, which apparently is his favorite pastime from what we can tell from all of the uploaded videos we found on YouTube. We covered this car in great detail once before, and he seems to continuously upgrade this car with today’s performance goodies.
